Joshua Tree Didge Fest 2002

Didgeridoo UK 2000 Festival

Australia, Northern Territory, 2002 Trip

Aboriginal Rock Art

Joshua Tree Didge Fest 2002, Joshua Tree, California, USA

With a swag under one arm and a lot of didgeridoos in the other, I made my way from Australia to the Joshua Tree Didge Fest in California. I was going to help out Graham and Trish Doe, the event organisers. When I got to California there was lots of work to be done, so we packed an RV van and Graham's van full of gear and didgeridoos and drove to Joshua Tree. The festival started on Friday with a live concert and walking hikes to the Joshua Tree National Park. I spent most of my time in The Didgeridoo Store tent where I was able to meet all kinds of people from all over America. Didgeridoo UK 2000 Photo Album by Darryl Anderson

If you would like to see some photos I took of the UK 2000 Didgeridoo festival when I was over there, click here.

Check out the two didgeridoo players in the kilts. It’s a great sight for a man of Scots descent like myself. What happened to their bag pipes!

There’s a wide variety of people playing the didgeridoo these days.

Australia, Northern Territory, 2002 Trip

It had been 12 years since I ventured back to the north of Australia, and it was the time for another trip was long overdue. It had been 17 years since I’d visited some places, so it was great to see it all again.

Aboriginal Rock Art

When I went on my trip up north I had the opportunity to see some amazing Aboriginal rock art. I thought I’d share some of the photos I took.

Aboriginal rock art is a tradition of painting and engraving that stretches back thousands of years. It is thought that the oldest surviving examples may be as much as 40 000 years old. Click her to see the Photo Gallery
